I have an 8 year old and 11 year old boy in the house, and we've had a lot of the foam single blade copters (air hogs and others) over the last few years - this one blows them away. The dual counter-rotating blades produce a much more directionally stable and trimmable flight. Learn how to use the trim knob - it is the key to fun! Without it being trimmed to fly straight ahead, you will constantly fight the controls. Learning to hit things with the plastic missiles was easier than I thought it would be, just don't expect to hit the puny supplied cardboard targets. Not gonna happen but once in a blue moon.
This copter also seems way more durable than the standard foam airhog with the tail rotor. That's a plus when the 8yo isn't so skilled at flying yet!
Sure wish all these copters would support charging from a USB port. Shoveling AAs into the transmitter once a week seems pretty wasteful and expensive.

The Sharp Shooter micro RC heli is a coaxial RC helicopter that is roughly about 6 1/2 inches in length. It has a 2channel infra red transmitter which allows for left, right, up, down movement. There is also a big red fire button at the top of the controller to launch the missiles (in flight only, no sitting still and firing) This item is for children 8+.
