This is quite a nice plastic model of LdV's Aerial Screw, with its woodgrain-finished pieces. However, there were a number of disappointing aspects (not being the retailer's fault, as it was shipped sealed). In particular the white screw pieces were bagged with the brown 'wooden' parts, and the latter left a number of brown paint marks - very visible - on the white surfaces. These would not come off with any normal process, so had to finally resort to paint stripper, which (of course) left unsightly permanent marks on the white parts. Better than the brown marks, but only marginally. Also some parts that were supposed to be assembled (as shown on the instructions) were not, requiring much extra time and fiddling about - the 'ropes' on the white parts especially.
So, not a bad model, but a lack of care on the manufacturer's part made it much more frustrating and unsatisfying than it needed to be.
[See my better experience with the Armoured Car model though ...]

The scientific genius of Leonardo da Vinci is brought to life through this articulated model. The invention that inspired this snap-together replica is taken from the pages of Da Vinci's priceless and awe-inspiring notebooks. This model is made of plastic, snaps together and requires no special tools. The manual is very educational and teachs how this invention has evolved into what it is today. The Aerial Screw designed by Leonardo da Vinci was a precursor of the modern day helicopter. The device was designed to compress air in order to obtain flight. No batteries required. Also known as DV002
