(More customer reviews)We have had two of these. A two to three year old can use it, but it takes a four year old or higher to put enough spin on it to launch it to the ceiling. But it does work and is fun. The rotor blades (when the handle is pulled) will launch the helicopter off the handle and it will fly upward -- with a minimum auto rotation. It is made of soft foam and will not mar furniture or the walls or ceilings -- a big plus. It will, of course, knock glass ware or such off shelves because it probably weighs 6-10 oz. and the rotor spins (but is soft enough that it is not a threat to small fingers). On both of ours they did not seem to use enough glue to keep it together and after quite a bit of use and lots of crash landings the landing gear and the tail "rotor" (which is fixed) needed to be glued back on with rubber cement. But over all, I would strongly recommend this for kid powered and indoor fun. It is best as an indoor toy, outside its relatively short flight time (less than 10 seconds) makes it a bit underwhelming outside.
