LEGO Ultimate Building Set - 405 Pieces (6166) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my children and to relive my days of playing with Legos in the 1970s. The kids really enjoy playing with them. I like this generic collection of mult-purpose bricks better than the sets that are designed to build one unique item. For the price (normally around twenty five dollars), you get a reasonable amount of stuff. On the down side, there are a lot of the smaller bricks (1 x 2 and 1 x 1). After playing with this for a few days I found that my kids wanted plates, bricks (2 x 4 and 2 X 8), and wheels (my son loves to make cars). I went to lego dot com where I was able to buy these specific things separately. Also, if you want to find some odd parts from old sets (even going back to the 1970s) try bricklink dot com. It takes awhile to navigate the site, but you can buy whatever individual pieces you want used.
In summary, buy this set first from Amazon and then go to lego dot com or bricklink dot com to buy wheels, bricks and plates.

Probuilder: Mountain Peak Expedition by Mega Brands Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This is probably one of the best looking "Brick" Helicopters. I've yet to see a realistic collector quality helicopter by Lego. MegaBloks has made one. The MegaBloks helicopter is based on a Eurocopter EC 135. It was a lot bigger than expected when completed. Although a bit below "Lego" quality, it's very nicely done. I'd recommend it for adult collectors as well as kids. A few minuses are the back portion is a little "rough" looking with some flat doors covering the rounded aft end, The aft doors tend to fall off easily. Some of the paint on the parts are also a little thin. I touched mine up with some spare paint. Once completed it looks proportional compared to pics of the real EC 135. The main rotors look the right size and are nicely detailed. It looks like it would fly! You'd probably pay twice or three times as much for a equivalent Lego version.

LEGO City Fire Truck (7239) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This Fire Truck really, really, really looks like a fire truck! The front of it is probably the coolest part, if you take it off and give it to someone they'll know it belongs on a fire truck. It has two firemen, fire tools, a shiny silver helmet (Only available in this set) and it is very durable. There are lots of very useful parts on this fire truck too so if you ever decide to take it apart, you'll have lots of cool new parts.

Tomy Constructables Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This toy is a ton of fun. We purchased it for our 3.5 year old, but the 6 and 2 year olds play with it just as much. It is so simple for them to build vehicles, we can get a little peace and quiet! Speaking of quiet, the clicking sound is very annoying and loud, however...if you remove the 4 screws from the main piece (with the battery compartment) carefully, you will find the culprit. There is a plastic piece that clicks against one of the gears and is held on by one screw. Simply remove it and put the top back on. Tada. Don't let the noise keep you from this cool toy.
