Cobra 3 Channel Radio Control Mini Gyro - Colors May Vary Review

Cobra 3 Channel Radio Control Mini Gyro - Colors May Vary
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have never flown an RC helicopter before this one. This Cobra Mini Gyro is a lot of fun and immediately gets you hungry for a bigger model.
This is very easy to operate. You will have the helo under control within your first five minutes of flight.
The helo charges through the controller. You have to plug it in for atleast 20 minutes in order to get five minutes of flighttime. That doesn't sound like a lot, but you get what you pay for. That's not to say that this is junk, at this price range, this is the standard.
Anyways, be aware that you will be replacing batteries after about a dozen recharges. Not a big deal if you just get rechargeables.

SYMA S026 3CH RC RTF MINI CH-47 CHINOOK HELICOPTER Review

SYMA S026 3CH RC RTF MINI CH-47 CHINOOK HELICOPTER
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm shocked myself - This is going to be the most positive review I've ever written on any site, for any product - This copter is that good! I caught the heli bug 3 years ago while recovering from a broken hip, going from 2 to 3 to 4 channel indoor copters, as well as a few higher end outdoor models.
Of them all, the Syma S026 Chinook (and make sure it's this one! more on that later)is the most stable and easiest to fly Helicopter in our collection. It does whatever you want it to do - exactly. Having been through the horrors of two-channel units, which really don't do anything but go up and down (and spin out of control! semi-LOL), it's great to find an inexpensive that really flies - not randomly, but lets you be a real pilot.
Hit the up controller and it goes directly proportional to amount of throttle input. Go forward or backwards, and it goes where you want it to. Hover it right next to you, and it stays there until you send it on a new mission. Up, Down; backwards, forwards; sideways and box patterns - no matter what you command, it does it - and does it well.
Following several bumps/crashes into walls, floor and even a wife (I said I was SORRY!) the Chinook is still in one piece. (Knock on wood) The rotors haven't broken yet - a first for me. Usually I lose a rotor on these every other flight.
Now that they're installing LiPo batteries in the small copters, battery life is exceptional as well. Syma provides what they call a balancing charger, which brings my battery to full power in less than an hour.
As long as you can tolerate/understand the comically translated instructions, you will really enjoy this one. I would also recommend for child's use - just make sure they are supervised, and that you have some spare parts too. Top of the list should be an extra full set of propeller blades. Nothing is worse than starting to fly, hitting something just right (or just plain wrong) breaking a blade - and having to wait a week or two for new parts to come. I know one day even I will break a prop, so we always keep a few on hand.
Other than that, I can't see or foretell any other 'consumable' parts in this one. Just (carefully) take out of the box, charge and fly. Whether you're just starting out learning to fly, or are experienced - You're going to like this helicopter - A Lot!
BTW - Syma makes several versions of this copter, as do several other manufacturers. Syma also makes one that's almost the same size and price - It's not the same! Order the S026, and you'll get the right one. Chinnoks are not all the same. Happy Flying.

Last year, Silverlit had brought to all RC fans a major shock with the introduction of their Tandem Z helicopter. A full 3 channels control makes it capable to go forward, left, right, slightly backward. However, a lot of customer were dissatisified with its quality, they said it is too easy to break, and they don't like the weird front and rear stabilizer attaching to the Tandem Z.This year Syma had finally introudced their own version of Tandem Z, built with the coaxial blade platform, it provides double the stability in compares to a Tandem Z, you don't need to trim the helicopter constantly to get it stable. And you can manually adjust the flying style. For example if you want the helicopter to lean more to the forward, you can press the button on the right shoulder a few times, it will make the Rear rotor Blade spins faster than the front rotor, making the helicopter tends to fly forward. And vice versa, if you want the helicopter to fly significantly backward. And you can also try the neutral flying mode, which is helicopter not leaning to either forward or backward, I personally like this the most, the easier mode to control.

DX6i Transmitter Only MD2 Review

DX6i Transmitter Only MD2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received the DX6i transmitter as a Christmas present, along with the Mustang BL BNF (bind and fly) RC model. The transmitter is more than what's required to operate the airplane, but it's my first programmable transmitter. You could easily use the DX5e, but I like the LCD display and the way you can make program changes to customize and save flight settings for your particular model.
The Mustang is a hand-launched, speedy, electric foam plane. I had to reverse the servos for the ailerons, which was easy to program. The control surface throws were initially off, so I programmed 125% throw for the aileron servos to meet design specs for high rate. I programmed 60% for the elevators and ailerons for low rates, which works well. The high rate settings are also programmed with positive exponentials of +35% to dampen the response around the neutral point for better control. I use the Flap switch to give 8% up elevator on takeoff so that the model climbs at a steady rate rather than loosing altitude after release; then it's easy to switch it off because the lever is taller than the elevator-rate switch next to it. I programmed the "Kill Switch" to be a 10 minute timer, so now I can hear beeps every minute as the timer counts down during flight.
I've added a rudder servo to the model (it's optional), so now I'm using most of the channels and switches. I'm not using the gear, trainer, or mix switches, yet.
The transmitter seems to have a long range. It's also relatively easy to hold, though I find it essential to use a neck lanyard due to hand launching; the radio hangs perfectly balanced. The control sticks have very little resistance, which I'm slowly getting used to; I tried increasing the friction, but the adjustment didn't make much difference. However, when I apply too much down elevator pressure, the stick pops out of its gimbal mount on one side (but doesn't fall into the radio) then there is a lot of friction and the stick doesn't return to neutral. I've gotten to where I just pull on the stick each time to pop it back into place. This seems to be a weak point.
Another weakness for beginners like me is the operating manual. It will get you flying using the fundamental settings, but I had to search the net to find out what some of the useful settings (like exponential) were for and when to use them. I would still like to know how to set up and use the trainer switch function.
If you think you might want to fly a PNP (Plug N Play)RC model, you might consider the transmitter in combination with the AR6000 receiver. The combined price can be a good discount for that receiver.
Overall, I'm satisfied with the transmitter as long as the elevator/aileron stick doesn't get looser.

Air Hogs Radio-Controlled Gyro Havoc Heli Review

Air Hogs Radio-Controlled Gyro Havoc Heli
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
before you get this, make sure you know what a gyrocopter is. hint -- the rotor is SUPPOSED to be unpowered. it spins by moving through the air, and once it's spinning fast enough it acts as a wing. this is called "autorotation"
my single complaint is that this is not "easy to fly" as indicated on the box. it's intermediate-to-advanced, leaning toward advanced. again, it REALLY helps to know what a gyrocopter is -- don't expect this to fly like an airplane OR a helicopter. it's its own thing =)
that said, this is a unique and rewarding flyer that's guaranteed to draw a crowd. it seems flimsy, but i've crashed more than i like to admit, and mine's still in one piece
do NOT just give this to an average kid and expect him/her to have fun with it. because they won't -- that's what the Air Hogs Aero Ace biplanes are for! but it's perfect for a patient, science-minded kid that doesn't mind a little adult help here and there

Gyro Havoc is a hybrid airplane/helicopter that flies outdoors in parks and larger-sized backyards. The un-powered top rotor spins with the wind and adds lift and stability to flights. It also slows down the aircraft for better control in smaller areas. Two powered props (thrusters) are used to control speed, lift and L/R steering. Requires 6 "AA" batteries, not included. Measures approximately 15" x 18" x 16".

This copter is super fun. It is inexpensive yet it's really well made and flies super stable. My ten year old and his friends have a blast with it! The LED lights look really cool and it's easy to charge and learn to fly.
As is always the case we did crash it a few times..and one of the blade linkages got disconnected and lost..(a very small but important piece)..so now it won't ascend properly...anyway, I contacted the MFG and they are sending a new kit to replace the linkage...so we'll be back up and flying very soon.
I highly recommend this copter. It is a unique and very well made, enjoyable toy for all ages...makes a great Christmas gift too!

WowWee Bladestar Flame Indoor Flyer Review

WowWee Bladestar Flame Indoor Flyer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a flying machine unlike anything you've ever seen before. It's not an airplane, it's not a helicopter, it's not an autogyro, it's not an ornithopter with flapping wings. It's a powered maple seed. I'd have never thought of it, and you probably wouldn't have either, but the Wowwee designers did, and they deserve lots of credit for this masterpiece of out-of-the-box thinking.
I read about it in the magazine of an engineering society that I belong to, and the reviewer couldn't figure out what kind of "control equation" allowed an object with no non-rotating reference elements -- everything on the Bladestar spins -- to operate under directed flight. He must have come from the same aeronautical tradition as the ones that proved that a bumblebee can't fly. (We now know that insects use nonlinear "unsteady flows" to gain more lift than traditional aerodynamic equations provide for.)
While the Bladestar employs "AI" according to its advertising, it's not as smart as a bumblebee. But it can successfully avoid light-colored objects under good conditions. In the jargon of AI research this is called situationist autonomous control. If the room you're flying it in has dark walls like my living room, you'll have to guide it away from them yourself. The blades do collect dings if you fly it into hard objects, but the wingtips are covered with heavy foil that you can smooth out and it's nearly as good as new.
It naturally hovers very stably, so you might expect it to respond to the controls like a UFO in a video game, but no, this is a real flying object with gyroscopic effects when it tilts to move sideways. It takes a little bit of practice to learn to anticipate these movements and coordinate the controls appropriately. I was practicing landing on target after about 5 flights.

Bladestar is a revolutionary indoor flying machine that changes helicopter flight as we know it. This is the first flying toy with a sensor-based navigation that enables it to glide itself through the air as it avoids ceilings and other obstacles. Alternatively you can control it with the three-channel digital IR controller, and with the dogfight accessory attached you can face-off two bladestars to see who will win. When you notice power loss, simply recharge right from the controller. Made from light "high-flex" materials and designed to be crash-resistant, Bladestar is built for indoor flight. Requires 6 "AA" batteries, not included.

I have both the small&big syma chinooks and the smaller one is more reliable.
First off these helicopters are fun for beginners and are easy to control. The problem about the Big Chinook are the blades, I only had it for a day and the front top blades snapped off from making contact with the rear blades as it was flying. If you are thinking about trying this one just buy the small one because I crashed it a thousand times and it still flies.

Syma Apache 3 Channel RC Helicopter Review

Syma Apache 3 Channel RC Helicopter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this plus the Syma S018 Air wolf and the S013 Black Hawk for the kids that I am friends with the family. The kids ages run from 7-14.
They had now problem getting use to the this and the other models mentioned above. The twin top rooter type helicopters (including the Air Hogs Sharp Shooter) are easer to control. I want to point out one feature om the control of the Syma controls. the right lever it will move a full 360
degrees while on the Air Hogs controllers, it only movers left and right. So the Syma copters really do move back wards.
Also on the Apache, it has these cool white and blue blinking lights. the other Syma copters mentioned above do to but they are positioned differently so playing with all three in a darkened room is really fun.
The only thing I wish Syma had in this price group were more interactive copters like the Air Hogs Sharp shooter and Laser Battles copters.
NOTICE: IF YOU WANT TO PURCHASE ANY HELICOPTERS FOR MORE THAN ONE PERSON AND TO BE PLAYED AND BANDS A,B & C, CONTACT THE SELLER IF DIFFERENT BANDS ARE AVAILABLE. ON THE APACHE, BLACK HAWK & AIR WOLF WE ORDERED, ALL CAME IN THE C BAND.
HELPFUL TIPS.
1. Remove as many hard objects in the room like lamps coffee tables etc. as possible. If not able to remove, cover with a quilt or blanket.
2. If you are about to crash into a wall or other hard object, cut the power before you crash.
One other feature I like about the Syma helicopters is the availability of replace parts like the main rooters, tail rooter, balance bar, shafts and others. I seen only the tail rooter can be replaced on the Air Hogs.
In my opinion, I would say the Syma copters are a better value over all.

Air Hogs Hawk Eye Channel B Review

Air Hogs Hawk Eye Channel B
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Previous reviewers touched on the highlights ... 3 to 4 minutes of flight time, poor quality pictures and video. But for what I paid for it ($49), I wasn't expecting stunning video quality. It was interesting to view the video taken from the helicopter's point of view.
The helicopter relies on infrared remote control, not radio, so any time the device loses line of sight with the controller, it crashes or falls to the ground. I could fly the helicopter reliably as long as it stayed within 15 to 20 feet of me, otherwise it lost its signal and crashed.
After 4 or 5 charges, the helicopter refused to fly. As soon as the blades spin up, they shut down. I tried replacing the controller batteries, but that didn't fix the problem. So, after one day of "fun" with the Hawk Eye, it's going back to the store for a full refund.

Hawk Eye is capable of taking clear and steady video recording even while it is flying. We read a couple of reviews suggesting that this helicopter toy breaks easily. Actually, we found it quite tough. We crashed it a number of times, but nothing was ever damaged. It just "takes a lickin', but keeps on ticking."
After about six or eight crash flights, I got the hang of it and succeeded in a number of very good, lengthy flights.
I am age 68. My twentysomething son liked it a lot, and flew it with considerable skill.
Give it a try.

Syma New 3 Channels Helicopter - The Alloy Shark - Forward, Backward, Left, Right Review

Syma New 3 Channels Helicopter - The Alloy Shark - Forward, Backward, Left, Right
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My wife bought one of these little monsters as a Christmas present for me. I pulled it out of the box, ignored the instructions and flew it (flailed around about a foot and a half in the air actually) in the bedroom over the bed for about three minutes until the factory charge on the battery went flat. I then decided to read the instructions while the battery charged. The instructions provided are moderately 'encrypted' by loose translation, but answered a few questions.
I flew the machine a second time and had some issues with rotor torque or something causing it to spin without input from the remote. I made the adjustments listed in the instructions and the machine flew flawlessly after that. The potentiometer listed in the instructions is a small white surface mount type on the forward right hand portion of the circuit board (looking from the rear). It helped to snip away part of the plastic shield over the board (I assume a radio freq. shield and mirror for the disco l.e.d. that flashes during flight) to reach it and I had to remove a good deal of wax locking compound. A 1/2 turn down (right) fixed the torque spin problem and all was well in the world.
My piloting skills and lack of good judgment have lead to numerous crashes and near disasters. Free falls from seven to eight feet and impacts with every thing from tables and chairs to ceiling light fixtures have only yielded a bent skid and one blade change (blades are readily available and cheap about 6$ a set). I would recommend this 'copter to anyone as a result. It is quite advanced beyond the tiny plastic tossers and has very sensitive controls. Outdoors it soars to great heights and with the additional 'elbow room' the sensitive controls make flying a little more free and easy.
There is a slight issue when you're about half way through the battery charge - forward or backward control inputs will drop the main rotors power and require some 'up' input. This is not the normal loss of lift associated with tilt on a heli, but some apparent function of the tail rotor drawing juice from the mains. I had to 'bend' the tail rotor straight after a particularly tough landing so perhaps this is causing the additional draw and resulting issue.
If you're looking for an 'out of the box' toy then look elsewhere - if you want something with more of a 'hobby' feel, super rugged design and power then this helicopter is for you. It flies outdoors very, very well due to it being a little heavier and more powerful. It requires a good deal of patience but you'll be rewarded with months of enjoyment from a toy that is not quite as 'toy like' as you'd think.
I would complain about one tiny thing...the disco light. why? flashing lights I understand - but multicolored disco lights on a helicopter don't make much sense...how about just nav lights?

This 2 foot long, 1 pound heli is super in the dark, the transmitter shows heli battery power,
its an outdoor helicopter, flies high and far, but it may need some as of yet unavailable upgrades:
like better battery or better forward momentum. but maybe i need some more practice, havent flown it much because you cant have any wind current. its tricky like most back rotor helis in that you have to
ascend quickly on takeoff or you'll do a right turn clyde into the ground..... 9.6 volt 800 ma powerful.
a super transmitter could help some as this transmitter the trim buttons move picking it up.
but i would say that for twice the price of your cheapest indoor micro heli, this is a must have for the price if nothing else, than to have and wait for upgrades,... ... . .. . . . . ..... . ...
